Women's Psychology
Dr. Danielle Sandalic, Clinical Psychologist, PhD
You've been told to manage your stress, think differently, get more sleep.
But what if the picture is bigger than that?
Women's mental and physical wellbeing is shaped not only by life experiences, but also by hormonal changes, reproductive health, and the sociocultural expectations placed on them throughout their lives.
As a clinical psychologist who focuses on women's mental health, I help you manage anxiety, burnout, depression, pain and other problems through a holistic approach that honours your unique biological, psychological, and social mix.

How We Can Help You...
Your nervous system, endocrine health, and emotional wellbeing function together.
Shifts in any one area affect other areas, and your total functioning.
Practising on the Northern Beaches, I map these intersections to look at the whole picture of your mental health.
This ensures your treatment is integrative and gender-responsive.
Helping Women With...

You look composed on the outside.
Inside, you're running on empty.
High-functioning anxiety, corporate exhaustion, and the weight of difficult life experiences can quietly wear you down.
I offer supportive, structured psychological care to help you recover your energy, process what you've been through, and rebuild a steadier footing.
Chronic pain touches everything — your sleep, your mood, your sense of who you are.
Conditions like Fibromyalgia, CRPS, and severe post-surgical pain are exhausting to live with.
I use targeted neurorehabilitation and sensory retraining to ease the burden of complex pain and help you reclaim more of your daily life.
Your body is changing, and so is how you feel.
PMDD, perimenopause, and ongoing health adjustments bring real physical and emotional demands that deserve strong support.
I provide practical, evidence-based therapy to help you understand these shifts and manage them with more clarity and calm.

Relational Strain &
Caregiving
Caring for everyone else has a cost.
When you're holding a family together, supporting a partner, or managing intense caregiving, your own needs can get pushed aside.
I help you set healthy boundaries, reduce relationship stress, and protect your wellbeing while caring for others.
Whether you're struggling with mood changes, managing a chronic condition, or getting through a difficult time, my treatments help you function well and truly thrive.

Meet
Dr Danielle Sandalic
Clinical Psychologist, PhD.
For years, I sat with women in a system of care built for a 'general audience.' Generic approaches limited the way a woman’s mental health could be understood and treated.
Effective management of these women’s problems hinged on acknowledging sex-based differences in biological, social, and psychological experiences.
That’s why I created Soma & She — to offer an uncompromising alternative to standard care options, concentrating entirely on the biological and lived realities of women.
Common Questions About Your Dee Why Psychologist
-
Where is your psychology practice located?
I'm based in Dee Why, in the heart of the Northern Beaches, Sydney — easy to reach for women across the beaches - from Manly & Mosman to Palm Beach.
-
Do I need a referral to see you?
You're welcome to book directly. If you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan. I'm happy to explain how this works when you call.
-
What kinds of concerns do you support?
Burnout and high-functioning anxiety, trauma, hormonal and health shifts such as PMDD and perimenopause, chronic pain, and the strain of caregiving and relationships.
-
Do you only work with women?
Yes. Soma & She is a psychology practice dedicated entirely to women's mental and physical health.
-
What happens in the first session?
We talk. I listen closely to what you're carrying, understand your history and goals, and together we shape a clear plan for your care.
-
Do I have to be in crisis to come and see you?
Not at all. Early, preventative care is one of the kindest things you can do for yourself. You deserve support well before things feel unmanageable.
Also note, that 'mental health' is not the opposite of 'mental illness' and that research shows that people who are 'symptom-free' can and do still languish i.e. they have poor mental health.
We work to help women thrive, not simply battle problems when they arise.
